‘Tis the Season

For potato cakes, for that pecan pie or rum cake with egg nog that your family members only make once a year. Be it cookies, cakes, pies, turkey, or stuffing, the holidays are always fun until come March when you’re back at the weekly hammerfests, dying for air while your legs are burning reminding you just how many extra bites you had. The winter is for hybernating right? You worked really hard over the year, reached that long term goal you had been working towards and you deserve this! Sure, have that extra bite but don’t give up on winter riding. Don’t let that happen again for yet another year. Where there is a will there is a way.  Too cold? We’ve got the gear to cover you. It’s all in the layering from arm and leg warmers to wind vests and jackets to cut away that wind chill. The best part is that many of these layers are just that, layers which can easily be taken off and stuffed in your back jersey or jacket pocket once you’ve warmed up and are ready to finish those base miles. Still too cold? No problem! We have trainers and blocks to convert your bike into a stationary bike. No need to run to the gym for a winter membership, you can set one up in your house or garage. Turn on your dvd’s from your favorite race this summer and let them be your inspiration to increase resistance rather than that instructor screaming at the top of their lungs, still barely being heard over the blaring speakers, doing moves that you know you would never do out on the open road. Sure, its still burning calories but if you’re like me, once you get on your own bike and riding outside its hard to get motivated to push yourself in an environment like that.  So don’t neglect your bike this winter, riding only once a week if that, while every other day you pass it on your way out in your warm car telling yourself, it is the off season after all!

Come in and see us…we have sales, bass ass BONT shoes (best out there), winter gear, clothes, helmets, and trainers for that cyclist in your family.

Happy Holidays & Feliz Navidad!

Chile Pepper Challenge 2010

This year the 29th Annual Event attracted 646 riders from the El Paso/Las Cruces, NM area.  Organized by the El Paso Bicycle Club, it gave riders of all levels the opportunity to come together and support our local community and enjoy the beautiful scenery of the Southwest. While it was not a race, we were able to get the first finishers in the 62 & 100 mile distances. Special congrats goes to our very own, Gilberto Porras, for winning the 100 mile distance, while Javier Segura (also riding in an Atom’s kit) won the 62 mile distance. Below are photos from the event. Congratulations to all of the ATOM CYCLIST riders who completed the event. We saw a lot of Atom kits out there looking sharp!
